A Guild Wheel walk organised by Chris Pilkington from Penwortham will raise funds for Rainbow House and two other local charities, St Catherine’s Hospice and Derian House. The event will take place on Good Friday 19th April starting at 8/8.30 am from The Continental Pub, South Meadow Street, Preston and the walk will cover 21 miles heading towards Preston Docks to start and ending at The Royal British Legion, Leyland Road, Penwortham.
Chris is hoping that over 100 walkers will take part who will pay a £21 entry fee and will also be encouraged to raise sponsorship to increase the funds which will be split between the three charities. He said “After being in and seeing these organisations, it inspires me to fundraise and get more involved. The work that they do and the job that they do in creating an environment where it brings families together and takes the pressure off their loved ones for hours up to days is unbelievable. The help and support they can offer is endless. A truly great job they all do.” He continued, “the Guild Wheel Walk gets all the community involved and is all about having fund whilst helping others.”
In addition to organising the event which is in it’s third year, Chris, 34, who works for Leyland Trucks, enjoys hiking and running and his personal challenges this year will be taking part in Hawkshead 17k Trail, Derwent Water Dawdle a 23 mile fell race, Lakeland Trails 55k race, Coniston Marathon and a 120 mile bike ridee to support the charities.
