News : Sign Up to The Rainbow Ramble & Start Your New Year's Resolution To Get Fit

What better way to start your New Year's resolution to get fit and healthy bysigning up to the Rainbow Ramble 2010, a sponsored walk or run organised by The Legacy Rainbow House.

Local people, and teams from community and social groups, schools and businesses are being urged to join the Rainbow Ramble which will take place on Saturday 15 May 2010.

This year, alongside the 18 mile walk or run there will also be a shorter approximate 10 mile route, offering a healthy challenge to all whatever your level of fitness or age. Both routes are wheelchair accessible and will take in the beautiful Lancashire countryside surrounding The Legacy centre in Mawdesley, starting and finishing at Bishop Rawstorne High School in Croston, passing through the beautiful villages of Eccleston, Heskin, Wrightington, Mawdesley – calling in at The Legacy, then Bispham, Rufford and back to Croston. It promises to be a great day out for everyone, an opportunity to get fit, and most importantly raise vital money for the children of The Legacy Rainbow House.

Joe Mawdsley, Founder and Chief Executive of the Charity says,

“Last year over 150 ramblers signed up for the challenge together raising over £18,000. This year we hope to attract many more ramblers to this major fundraiser for our charity. We hope the local community and local businesses can get behind us and help us raise the funds we need to continue our services for children with disabilities and their families. Best of all it’s great fun for family and friends, and this year the two routes mean there is a level for all those who want to get healthier in 2010.”

The starting time from Bishop Rawstorne is 10am prompt, however entrants are asked that they arrive no later than 9.30am to register & warm up.

Entry is £15 which includes a charity T shirt. All those who finish receive a medal and certificate which will be presented at the finish line. The charity also plans to hold a presentation evening on Thursday 3rd June at Heskin Hall to present teams with their medals. A hog roast supper and bar will be on offer.
